Given over to a delusion

By Lorne Dey

Until Obama, if somebody told me that someone born in another country and thereby ineligible to be president of the United States was going to come here and con his way into the White House for the purpose of destroying America from within and that no one would stop him along the way, I would have looked at that person like he or she had lobsters crawling out of their ears.

You just can’t make that kind of stuff up and expect to be taken seriously!

But here we are. And this is exactly what is happening. Our nation is hurtling toward totalitarianism and a third world status and only a relative few people seem to care.

The big question is – Why? Why do so many of the money people and power brokers in this country want to see it in ruins or to become like Mexico or Cuba?

I’ve realized for a long time that when things don’t have an earthly reason, you can bet there’s an unearthly one.

There is no such thing as a spiritual vacuum. When good recedes or shrinks from responsibility, evil takes its place. And that is what has happened in America.

Because so many elected and appointed officials have been so busy searing our nation’s conscience these last several decades by getting rid of references to the Judeo-Christian principles the country was founded upon, God has given our nation’s peoples over to a delusion – just as he promised he would to any nation that rejects Him.

In the 1980s, President Ronald Reagan quoted frequently from the Bible and especially Second Chronicles 7:14 that states: “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

The fact that those words seem so foreign and out of place today only shows how far we have fallen as a nation and in such a short time.
